Who is Katie Tropp?

Cali born and Texas transplant Katie Tropp has been making moves throughout the South and have caught the attention of us here at Stereo Assault. Since signing over to Blaqman Records in (some years back), she has released two solo albums under the Blaqman imprint and been on various compilation projects.

The Austin, Texas emcee is also the VP of Sales and Publicity for Blaqman Records. We took the chance to talk with her about whats going on with her and what Blaqman has coming up that she has her hands on.

New projects coming out?

I am an artist and VP of Sales/Publicity with BlaQman Records and this year we have 2 albums slated for release that I will be featured on. The first will be “W’s Fa Breakfast” mixtape from the rap duo Playas Incorporated due out Feb 11th and also a compilation album called “ATX Underground” a project being put together by me and my labelmates Govinachi and Lecxs, this is slated for release Spring/Summer.

When was the first time you were in love with hip-hop?

When I purchased my first tape at 8 years old it was Salt N Pepa’s Very Necessary.

Ice Cube, 2pac, Eminem, Slim Thug, and T.I.

What are some of your personal benefits from being with an independent record label?

I have all creative control over all of my projects.

What are you goals for 2014

Touring the country and overseas is my main focus this year I need to expand my brand outside of Texas.
